University of Central Missouri Athletics
The Central Missouri State mascots are the Mules (men) and the Jennies (women). They compete in NCAA Division II and the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association. Sports include football, baseball, softball, volleyball, soccer, cross country, golf, wrestling, track & field, bowling, and men’s and women’s basketball. Walton Stadium seats 10,000 for Mules football and also serves as the home for the track & field teams and Jennies soccer. Walton is the largest football facility in the MIAA Conference. The CMSU multipurpose building, home of the basketball programs, seats 8,500. Other facilities include a Crane Stadium and Tompkins Field (baseball), Jennies Field (softball), the South Recreation Complex (soccer), and the Keth Memorial Golf Course at Pertle Springs, which hosts golf as well as cross country. The Mules men’s basketball team ended the season with an overall record of 24-7, while performing to a 13-1 home record and being undefeated by nonconference opponents at home. The Mules basketball team were the 2004-2005 MIAA regular season co-champions and the 2005 MIAA post-season tournament champions. The Jennies volleyball team, one of the more popular on campus, posted a 31-6 overall record (13-3 conference) with an impressive 10-1 showing at home. In 2004, the Mules football team recorded a 7-4 overall performance with a 5-4 conference record.
Central Missouri State University is an NCAA Division II School. Teams compete in the Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletics Association. Men’s sports include football, cross country, golf, basketball, wrestling, track & field, and baseball. Women’s sports include volleyball, soccer, cross country, bowling, basketball, track & field, and softball. The sports teams are supported by a spirit squad, which includes a cheerleading team, a dance squad known as the Mulekickers, a marching band, and a mascot known as “Mo.” The team nick-name is the Mules for men and Jennies for women.

Athletic facilities at Central Missouri State University include a stadium for men’s soccer, football, and outdoor track & field; a multi-purpose building for basketball, volleyball, wrestling, and indoor track & field; a baseball stadium; a golf course; a recreation center; and an athletic complex for women’s soccer and softball.
p. Among the championships and awards that Central Missouri State University has received are numerous division championships in football, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, volleyball, softball, and men’s cross country. Individual awards have included All-Americans and Academic All-Americans.
