University of Central Missouri Admissions
Central Missouri State requires that admitted students have completed sixteen units of state-approved college preparatory curriculum, including four units of English, three units each of mathematics and social sciences, two unites of science, and four total units of electives. Applicants must have scored 21 or better on the ACT or 980 or better on the SAT. Finally, applicants must have an admissions index score of at least 100. The index uses class rank, class size, and test scores to calculate an applicant’s “Combined Percentile Index.” The average Central Missouri freshman posted an average ACT score of 22 and had an average high school grade point average of 3.1. The majority of admitted students are female (54 percent). Ninety percent of Central’s undergraduates are natives of Missouri, though there are also students representing 43 states and 59 nations. The average undergraduate is 22.3 years-old and approximately one-third of them live on campus. Central recommends that applicants arrange a campus visit to orient themselves with the University’s unique character. Tours require a seven-day advanced notice. Students on tour can meet with a representative from Admissions and with a professor in their area of interest.
Central Missouri State University begins accepting applications for the fall term in the September or October of the prior year. The application fee is $30. Applications can be submitted on-line. Students who are enrolled in high school at the time of application will need to have their official final high school transcripts sent after graduation to the Admissions Office.
As part of their application, students should submit high school transcripts and ACT or SAT test scores. Students should have completed the Missouri high school curriculum as follows: 4 units of English, 3 units of mathematics, 3 units of history and social studies, 2 units of science, and four units of electives, including at least one unit of fine arts. Students must have a score of 21 on the ACT or 980 on the SAT. Students who do not meet these criteria will be evaluated on the basis of class rank combined with test scores, or on additional factors.
Transfer students and international students will have varying requirements depending upon their prior educational background.
Students applying to the graduate programs at Central Missouri State University should consult the individual department and/or school to which they are applying. Applications can be submitted on-line, and the application fee is $30. General requirements include the GRE or other appropriate test scores (such as the GMAT) and a bachelor’s degree with a grade point average of 2.50. Other materials may be required by specific programs.
